Fence installation Lafayette, IN

New fence installation

Fencing is the work Mercer Precision Construction does most. Parker walks the property line with you, talks through height, layout and gate placement, then digs, sets and builds the fence himself. Every post is set plumb and every run is pulled straight, because a fence that is off by an inch at the corner is off by a foot at the end.
  • We walk the line first

Before anything is dug, Parker walks the property line with you and agrees the layout, the height, where gates go and how the fence handles slope and corners. Getting this right on the ground is what keeps a finished run looking straight.

  • Posts set to hold

Posts are dug and set deep enough for Indiana frost, spaced evenly and checked plumb as they go in. A fence stands or falls on its posts, so this is the part that gets the most attention.

  • Gates that actually work

Gates get framed, hung and adjusted so they swing clear, sit level and latch without a shove. A gate that drags is the most common complaint about a new fence, and it is entirely avoidable.

  • Cleaned up when it's done

Spoil from the post holes, offcuts and packaging leave with Parker. You get the fence, not the mess that came with building it.

About fence materials

The fences in the photos on this site are built from wood — picket and privacy styles. Rather than list materials Mercer has not publicly confirmed, the honest answer is to ask: describe what you are after and Parker will tell you what he can build and what it would cost.

Fence repair Lafayette, IN

Fence repair

Not every fence needs to come down. If a few posts have rotted at grade, a section took a hit from a fallen limb, or a gate has dropped out of square, Parker will tell you honestly whether a repair will hold or whether replacing the run is the better spend. Repairs are matched to the existing fence as closely as the materials allow.
  • Leaning and rotted posts

Posts usually fail at grade, where wet soil meets wood. Individual posts can often be replaced without dismantling the whole run.

  • Storm and impact damage

A fallen limb, a vehicle or a hard Indiana storm can take out a section or two. Damaged sections get rebuilt and matched to the existing fence as closely as the materials allow.

  • Sagging gates

Gates drop over time as hinges wear and frames rack. Re-squaring the frame and resetting the hardware usually fixes it for good.

  • An honest repair-or-replace answer

If a fence is far enough gone that repairs will not hold, Parker will say so rather than take money for a patch that fails next season.
